Originally, the idea was this. Two sisters spending one year creating art, or at least creating, every day using only supplies that they already have, get for free, find, or receive...looking to rediscover the artistic selves they've lost somewhere along the way in all the clutter of life... But it didn't fit into life, and so now who knows what you might find?!!

#147 Sean the sheep

Todays silly little sheep, he's quite tiny, and not that much better looking than the photo! comes from two different things. One is a piece of roving Adriana was making something with at some point, that instead ended up going through the wash, voila, instant felting! So I had this little body that needed a head, etc. Weeks later, I go to the fair, Ray & Adriana are spinning themselves silly, the entertainment is karaoke (!!?), unable to stand it any longer, I visit the sheep, and there I find myself these fabulous sheep, nicely shorn, except for these silly little dreadlock-y bits around their faces. I know immediately that's what's going on the body. Adriana came up with the name!

#93 daisy chair

A couple of weeks ago this chair was at the swap shop, I knew it needed to come home with me and live at the studio. Turns out it's from sometime between 1930 and 1935, kind of cool. It was caned, and the caning was ripped to bits (it had been previously re-caned). Learning to cane is not on my list of things to do, so I had Ray make a new seat for me which I covered with my same felted (or fulled if you prefer) sweater from the other day. My photo was going to be my lovely daughter with the new seat and my braided rug, but she's a girl and sometimes girls are a little tricky. So it turns out to be a portrait of a chair. When I got home from Adriana's violin concert I decided it still needed a little something, so I felted a daisy for the corner. Now I'm thinking it might live with me instead of my props.

#41 & #42 - another diaper cover (w/flower)

I couldn't post just another diaper cover yesterday, so today I felted a flower to go on it so at least it was slightly decorated... might make another out of flower out of felt I'm thinking as this wasn't the look I was going for...

Slow reader?

This isn't as easy as it looks...making something, photographing it and then posting it daily...my living room looks like it exploded!  Sarah & I learned to needlefelt together and we both have found it's a lovely little addiction!  You can curl up on a chair with your wool and a needle and before you know it, something wonderful has happened.  Sadly, my photo of this little snail is a bit blurry (another challenge to this challenge - my camera doesn't enjoy doing close-ups!).

It certainly is coming in like a lion...

As we started March 1st, figured I'd go with a lion, for you know, the obvious reason. My husband, Ray asked if I was going to do a lamb at the end of the month, or was that too predictable... I don't know, I replied, it's not the end of the month!

My lion is needle-felted, his mane is this great wool I got, amusingly, Lion brand! which I used up on my next project which you'll see soon. Thankfully, I saved the scraps because I thought it was too fabulous to throw away (okay, I'm like that with most everything, truth be told!), but now I'm desperate for more. Who knew I could needle felt it?

Day 1, check!

PS - The lion's jungle is the material I refinished my chairs in, Marla!! xo
