Originally, the idea was this. Two sisters spending one year creating art, or at least creating, every day using only supplies that they already have, get for free, find, or receive...looking to rediscover the artistic selves they've lost somewhere along the way in all the clutter of life... But it didn't fit into life, and so now who knows what you might find?!!

Save the Sea Turtles (but not the art!)

Apologies for this one... We went as a family to the Museum of Science in Boston, and they had this fabulous Escher exhibit. Neither Ray or Adriana wanted to go, but I dragged them and them both being very logical and mathematical, they adored it. This was November, and ever since, we've said we were going to make Tessellations together as a family.

So pick the day after you've just brought 14 Girl Scouts on an overnight, and got perhaps an hour or two of sleep to try when you're the non-mathematical one in the family! Adriana's came out great. Ray's, oh my gosh, is crazy good, mine, while I kept trying and trying and trying for something that I could even consider working with... 3 hours (!!) later, I went for the easy way out, a simpler version (thank God!) and this is what we've got. (I left some of the remainder of the afternoon's work and one of Adriana's success on the board with my ummm... creation). So save the sea turtles, but paint over them first!!!

  1. This isn't as easy as we thought!:)
I like the turtles - they'd make fabulous fabric...couldn't you see a duvet cover made from this - let's call IKEA! The colors work really well, too.
